This afternoon, Yasir Naqvi joined community supporters to celebrate the achievements of Ottawa Centre over the past 10 years. He accepted the Ontario Liberal Party nomination and pledged to continue to build on the communities successes.
“I am proud to be a part of Kathleen Wynne’s team as we work together to build a stronger Ottawa Centre, and a stronger province,” Yasir Naqvi told a packed nomination meeting this afternoon.
The nomination meeting took place at St. Anthony's Soccer Club in the heart of Ottawa Centre and was attended by hundreds of supporters, community leaders and local business owners. Naqvi thanked them “for giving me the chance to serve the most engaged and thoughtful community in this province.”
He highlighted his strong Liberal record of investing in the community, including:
“I have been very proud to represent Ottawa Centre since 2007.” Naqvi concluded. “Together, our community has accomplished so much. From breaking ground on our new LRT, to ensuring new affordable housing for women in our community, to building a better Broadview Public School for our children. We have worked hard to ensure our city - my hometown - is more walkable and bikeable, more affordable for families and local business, and has more supports for those in need. As a result, our community is thriving. I am excited to be the candidate for Ottawa Centre in 2018 to keep building a better community.”
